Christmas break-up

On Sunday December 9th, we held our annual Christmas break-up “brunch” at Ben Bennett Botanical Park.  This was a change from our usual venue at the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens and there was some discussion, when Ben Bennett was chosen, as to whether there would be enough shelter if it rained. Everyone was warned to bring raincoats and umbrellas if that was the case, but it turned out to be a perfect summers day, with just enough shade, and a gentle breeze. Members brought a plate of ‘goodies’ to share, and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable morning.  It was especially great that two former presidents were able to join us and catch up with all the happenings over the year. Some members went for a walk round the park afterwards, looking for wildflowers and birdlife.  Unfortunately, due to the long dry spell, the frog pond was looking very sad, just a muddy puddle, so no frogs, but there were a few wildflowers and some hardy birds, and it was a good way to work off the Christmas cheer. A few members had also brought their lunch, so it was a really nice way to celebrate another year’s activities
